The Museums on the
Air Special Event Station will be held again on Saturday 18th June and Sunday
19th June 2011. This is a Club Supported event, and RADARC is offering Financial
Support as well as providing any equipment which we need to operate the Station.
What we DO need, is help to set the station up, in Antenna Erection (VHF & HF)
and in tear down on the 19th. We hope to get access on Friday 17th, evening,
to set up this year.
As before, we will
operate in the Foyer of the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, in Mohawk Way Woodley,
and Refreshment via the Museum Volunteers will be available all weekend. The
Museum will be open on both days, and Members are invited to have a look around,
but we would ask you to note that they rely on entrance fees to survive, so your
understanding in noting that there will be a modest charge to visit this
fascinating museum charting the history of Aviation in Berkshire in general, and
the Old Woodley Airfield in particular. Over the past two years we have forged
close links with the Museum and the site is ideal for mounting this type of
operation with maximum benefit to both our organisations, not to mention comfort
to the Operators.!! We would like to operate on CW during the weekend, so if
-.-. .-- is your thing, please sign up to operate over the weekend. VHF
likewise, and HF on the main Station. This is an ideal event for newer operators
to hone their techniques under the watchful eye of full licence holders (Max
400 Watts guys.!!) so new licence holders from the 26th March
Foundation
examination are most welcome. It would be appreciated if you could send me a
short email to confirm your participation and indicate if you are able to help
on the set up/tear down. http://www.radarc.org/special%20event%20station.htm
